Jon Stewart is taking aim at ABC's Brian Ross for the newman's remarks falsely linking James Holmes, the suspected killer in the Aurora, Colo., shootings, to the Tea Party.

During the networks breaking news coverage of Friday's massacre at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, Ross stated that there is a "Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado page on the Colorado Tea Party site as well, talking about him joining the Tea Party last year. Now we dont know if this is the same Jim Holmes, but this is Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado.

Turns out, it was a different Holmes. ABC News swiftly apologized for the error and Ross clarified his report on the air -- without a direct mea culpa on his mistake.

In a Daily Show segment entitled "What Story Does a Guy Have to Blow to Get in Trouble at ABC?," Stewart complained that Ross should say he's "irrevocably sorry to the innocent man that I casually, baselessly and publicly accused of, I don't know, maybe being a mass murderer?!?"

Stewart then compared Ross, ABC's chief investigative correspondent, to an "office gossip" who Googles information -- then spreads it around, factual or not. He joked that Ross had "hit the 'I'm feeling lazy' button."
