LONDON The life and times of British comedian, broadcaster and entertainer Kenny Everett is to be brought to the small screen in a biopic backed by pubcaster BBC.

Everetts life story is being made into a 90-minute biopic for BBC4 and will focus on his relationship with his wife, singer Lee Middleton they married in 1966 and separated in 1979 and his rise from rebellious young DJ to a BBC regular and household name.

Named The Best Possible Taste after one of Everetts famous catchphrases, Everett will be played by newcomer Oliver Lansley, while former British soap star Katherine Kelly plays Middleton.

Scripted by Tim Whitnall, the show will feature many of Everetts comic character creations which aired on his television shows in the 1980s on the BBC for seven years.

BBC4 controller Richard Klein described Everett as a genuine original: wild and unfocused maybe, but also deliciously anarchic and always entertaining."

Everett died of an AIDS-related illness in 1995.
