One day after his elimination, American Idol finalist Colton Dixon expressed his desire to record a Christian album. Some three months later,Colton's dream is coming true.
The season 11 standout announced on YouTube today that he has signed a deal with EMI Christian Music Group (CMG) label Sparrow Records. He joins anotherIdol alumon the roster:season five'sMandisa, whorecently notched a hit on the Christian Songs chart with "Good Morning" from her 2011 album What If We Were Real.

Dixon is also working his post-show single, "Never Gone," which the 20-year-old Murfreesboro, Tennessee nativehas been performing during his set on the American Idol Live! summer tour, and divulged that it will be available on iTunes starting Sept. 25."I cannot wait for you guys to hear the studio version," he says in the video.
Another song, called "You Are," will be shipped to radio "soon," Dixon adds, describing the tune as a "worship song" that he wrote with friends."I am thrilled that it is going on an album, let alone being my first single," he says.

As for when his proper debut may be released? Dixon offers little information, but plenty of enthusiasm. Says the mohawked seventh place finisher: "Gosh, I can't believe this is happening! I'll have a record out really soon."
