'The Voice': Carson Daly Addresses Reports of Show's Fall Season

Several weeks ago, reports broke that The Voice is planning on following up the current season with a third debuting in the fall. NBC reps and executive producer Mark Burnett have refused to confirm the reports, but there was some movement in that respect at NBCs Summer Press Day on Wednesday.

When The Hollywood Reporter asked Burnett and host/producer Carson Daly if they could squash or confirm the reports, they chose not to take either option. But Daly did try to address the option of a fall season.

We'd certainly be excited by the opportunity to have a show people are so passionate on again in the fall, Daly tells THR. The truth is its a call from the network. We'd obviously be thrilled by it.

Besides the reports, there are other indicators that an unannounced fall season may be in the works. The series is already holding auditions for the next season -- much earlier than last year.

Also, despite recently shrinking numbers, The Voice has been a ratings boost for the fourth place network, giving it regular wins on the highly competitive Monday night. NBC may want to keep that momentum going rather than allow it to die down with a long break between seasons.

And then, some would say that The Voices success has had Simon Cowell and X Factor running a bit scared amid its major judge and host re-castings and its lower than predicted ratings. Words have been exchanged between the two shows in the press. A fall season for The Voice would mean it would air during the same time of year as the Fox shows second season.
