Attention, Lorne Michaels: you can get Mitt Romney to host Saturday Night Live, but under one condition. The material has to be good.
"I haven't made a decision on that, just heard about it," Romney told Diane Sawyer on ABC's World News on Monday. "Of course it would depend on the nature of the skit. I want it to be funny."
The SNL/political satire bar was set high by Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, circa 2008. Palin herself, as well as John McCain, appeared on the show near the end of the election that year. Almost all presidential hopefuls have surfaced on NBC's weekend comedy tentpole since 2000, but Steve Forbes was the last candidate to host in 1996. Last week, show creator and producer Michaels allegedly offered Romney a hosting gig, and the presumptive GOP nominee was said to be mulling the offer.

That was news to Romney, who denied he had fielded such a request. But, he told Sawyer, the job seems "like a lot of fun," and praised cast member Jason Sudeikis' parody of him as an uptight, white-collared businessman.
"He's very good, Jason's very good," said Romney, noting that he records the show on his DVR.
A representative for SNL did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
