The endorsement did not go unnoticed by Modern Family executive producer Steve Levitan, who tartly tweeted, "Thrilled Ann Romney says ModFam is her favorite show. We'll offer her the role of officiant at Mitch & Cam's wedding. As soon as it's legal."

The remark was aimed squarely at the views of her Republican presidential candidate husband, Mitt Romney, who has been an outspoken opponent of marriage equality throughout the campaign. At theConservative Political Action Conference in February, Romneytold attendeesthat he "prevented Massacusetts from becoming the Las Vegas of gay marriage."

When I am president, I will defend the Defense of Marriage Act, Romney said during his CPAC remarks. And I will fight for an amendment to our constitution that defines marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman.

Still, if Mr. and Mrs. Romney don't see eye-to-eye on this particular social issue, it wouldn't be the first time for a Republican family with designs on the Oval Office: Former First Lady Laura Bushdeclared her support of same-sex marriage on a 2010 appearance on Larry King Live -- an "area" where she and husband George W. Bush "disagree."
