Seth Meyers Will Not Impersonate Paul Ryan on 'SNL' (Report)

TELEVISION: Seth Meyers

When Mitt Romney announced Paul Ryan as his running mate, it was almost a given that Saturday Night Live would have a field day lampooning the blue-eyed, budget-focused GOP-er.

Which begs the question: who's going to impersonator Ryan next season? Not Seth Meyers, according to TMZ.

The website reports that Meyers, the NBC show's head writer and Weekend Update anchor, has yanked himself from consideration, leaving an opportunity for castmates including Bill Hader, Taran Killam and Bobby Moynihan to spoof the Wisconsin congressman. Jason Sudeikis, who could potentially not return this year, already parodies Joe Biden and Mitt Romney, and Fred Armisen channels Barack Obama.

A rep from SNL said no decisions have been made yet.

When asked last week whether he'd take on the Ryan role, Meyers told Vanity Fair: Look, I think after I played John Kerry, which everyone agrees is the greatest political impression in the history of the show, why mess with success?
