The new season, which picks up immediately after Dexter's foster sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) walks in to see someone she's about to profess her love to plunge a sword into Travis, last season's Big Bad.

Producers said in late July at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour that the timing of Deb finding out about Dexter's Dark Passenger made sense for the cop who has risen to become the top dog at Miami Metro.

Added Carpenter: "I think it was imperative that [Deb] found out when [she's] already trapped in this web of acceptance for him."
