TNT is staying on the case.
The network has renewed Rizzoli & Isles for a fourth season, the Turner-owned cabler announced Friday.
The drama, which stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander as a Boston police detective and medical examiner, respectively, has been a solid performer for the network this summer, ranking as the No. 1 returning scripted series on basic cable.
In its new time slot at 9 p.m. Tuesdays, the series is averaging 7.1 million viewers. TNT has ordered 15 episodes for 2013.
"Anchoring a new night in its third season, Rizzoli & Isleshas proven itself to be a strong and enduring hit, not only in terms of the great storylines and performances but also in terms of the show's stellar ratings," said Michael Wright, president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM)."We're thrilled that Rizzoli & Isleswill continue to be a vital part of the TNT lineup."
The Warner Horizon Television show this summer is averaging 2 million viewers in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic when factoring in Live+3 numbers. The series continues to be an anchor of TNT's original drama lineup, where it stands to become the heir apparent after The Closer ends its seven-season run this year.
