True Bloods season 5 premiered last week with plenty of drama, but after the second episode on Sunday, its even clearer that there are going to be a lot of big problems for the residents of Bon Temps this season.

First of all, Tara (Rutina Wesley) is a terror as a vampire. Shes pissed, mainly at Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) for deciding to turn her. On top of that, Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) have been caught by the Vampire Authority, and its leader, Roman (Christopher Meloni) is pretty pissed, too.

Here are five highlights from the second episode of season 5:
Tara is a tantrum-throwing vampire.
Just after Sookie and Lafayette got the house cleaned up from the whole Debbie-the-werewolf mess, vampire Tara gets into it and makes it a big mess again. This new Tara is pretty much a baby vampire, throwing tantrums and being a big, violent brat overall.
I turned her into the thing she hates most, says Lafayette in a moment of weakness, while he holds a stake over his sleeping cousin. Sookie talks him down, but its clear that Lafayette is doubting his decision, now that Tara seems so soulless.
When Tara finally speaks towards the end of the episode, its just to let those two know she will never forgive them. And then she runs out the door into the night.

The Vampire Authority has a scary leader.
Meloni makes his first appearance as Roman, the leader of the Vampire Authority. After Eric and Bill have been thoroughly interrogated by the vampire government, they are brought to see Roman. Melonis first scene is an impressive one, with Roman sharing his blood with the other members of the authority in a creepy ritual. It turns out there was a bible before the human bible, and that vampires, specifically one named Lilith, were created before Adam and Eve, and that god was actually a vampire.
So now, Roman and the Vampire Authority are on a mission to get vampires and humans to peacefully co-exist. And nothing will stand in his way.
Co-existence with humans is not an option, it is a necessity. It is merciful, it is just. It is vital, Roman says. Any threat to mainstreaming is a threat to us. Fundamentalism is a dead end, and I wont f---ing have it.

It will be great to see more of Melonis Roman this season. The actor recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his character's obsession with getting what he wants: You know who acts like that? A child, he says. And I thought that was what kind of funny about it. Here you have this very impressive entity, yet underneath it all, hes a big old baby.
Just before Roman pronounces his sentence, Bill offers him a trade: Theyll bring him Russell Edgington (Denis O'Hare) in exchange for their own lives.
Pam's past is revealed.
We finally get a look into Pams (Kristin Bauer van Straten) past as a human. The sassy vampire was once a madam at a brothel, who seemed to have a problem with vampires eating her girls.
Eric Northman, handsome as ever, saves her on the streets one night, and their complicated relationship begins at that point.
The streets can be dangerous at this hour. A lady should be more careful, says Eric.
If I meet a lady, Ill let her know, snaps back Pam.

The family that eats together, stary together.
Werewolf Alcide (Joe Manganiello) tells the pack he isnt interested in being the new leader, or eating the old one. But Marcus mother wants to see her grandchild, even if Luna (Janina Gavankar) doesnt want her to. This puts a rift between Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna, because Sam thinks that Lunas daughter may need a relationship with her werewolf family in the future.
Emma and I are blood, so you either have my back or get the f--- out," Luna snaps.
Terry is falling apart.
The visit from Terrys (Todd Lowe) old marine buddy Patrick (Scott Foley) has sent the already screwed-up cook into an even darker place. He creepily hovers over Arlene (Carrie Preston) at night and shoves her across the kitchen during the day, due to his flashbacks of his time in Iraq. Its clear this is only going to lead to more trouble further into the season. By the end of the episode, Patrick and Terry have decided to go find their old marine buddy who may be causing the fires. Road trip!
