Sometimes the news gets a little dry, even for the host of a national network.

On Thursday, Fox News analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano was giving his take on allegations that Lance Armstrong doped from 1998 to 2011. While an ostensibly juicy topic, Napolitanos analysis veered toward the procedural and appeared to bore Studio B host Shepard Smith.

I wonder if he was taking V, Smith said, a reference to HBOs True Blood, in which V (vampire blood) can temporarily give humans heightened senses or increased their strength, among other things.

Napolitano and the rest of the panel didnt get the reference and told Smith they didnt watch True Blood. Smith continued, undeterred, with a discussion of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and the greatness of the show.

V, you could get all amped up on V and do all kinds of weird things, Smith said. You should watch True Blood.

Smith went on to speculate that if Armstrong appeared on True Blood, he could probably beat up the werewolves.

True Blood, as Smith plugs in the segment, had its Season 5 premiere June 10 and airs at 9 p.m. Sundays on HBO.
