There might still be some life left in Bored to Death.
The HBO comedy, which was canceled in December after the conclusion of its third season, is being considered for a TV movie continuation.
As first reported by Vulture, which saw a telling tweet from French journalist Pierre Langlas, an HBO rep confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that very early discussions are underway to revive the property for a feature.
Ted Danson, who starred in the series alongside Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis, got the ball rolling at the Monte Carlo Television Festival when he told Langlas that there was a good chance of a 90-minute film.
This is not the first time a defunct HBO series has been candidate for the TV movie treatment. There were previously talks for fixed continuations of Carnivale and Deadwood -- and as recently as 2011 there had been discussions of bringing The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency back as a series of films. Despite various levels of interest, none of those projects have ever come to fruition.
Bored to Death, loosely based on creator Jonathan Ames' own memoirs, debuted in 2009 to solid numbers. It enjoyed an audience north of 1 million during its first two seasons before dipping to 240,000 in its most recent run.
