'Dancing With the Stars': Double Elimination Determines Semifinalists

Dancing With the Stars served up generous portions of stress this week, making the six remaining couples tackle two different dances on Monday night -- and sending two of them home in the results.

And the playing field is that much more competitive for it. At the end of the broadcast, only four couples remained, each still vying for one of three spots in the May 22 finale.

So who wasn't among them? Tom Bergeron ripped the Band-Aid early in the broadcast for Roshon Fegan. The Disney star and his partner Chelsie Hightower, who survived the last two elimination duels, were told around the half-hour mark that they were in the bottom two and headed home.

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas were told earlier in the broadcast that they weren't safe, but bottom two status seemed unlikely when they were told to sweat it out for the final elimination alongside Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The lowest surviving scorers had only come as far as week eight with a boost from viewer votes.

But those votes can only take you so far, and after a relatively lackluster season, the Little House on the Prairie star and Dancing's most outspoken pro were told to hit the road. (Jenkins really looked like she thought it was going to be her.)

Though she was tearful, Gilbert, celebrating her birthday, closed the broadcast with a smile and thanks for her partner. "I'm amazed that I even made it this far," she said. "It does make it an incredible birthday."
