'Entertainment Tonight's' Mark Steines to Host Hallmark Channel Lifestyle Series

Mark Steines is going from Entertainment Tonight to the Hallmark Channel.

The journalist, who is leaving the syndicated entertainment roundup series this year, has been tapped to serve as the host for Hallmark's new lifestyle series, Home & Family, the The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Home & Family is described as a two-hour show created by daytime veteran Woody Fraser (Good Morning America, The Dick Cavett Show) that will feature home ideas and improvements. The network has ordered 220 original episodes that will run over 44 weeks.

Home & Family will originate from an actual house constructed on the Universal lot in Los Angeles. The show will be part of the daily back-lot tour with guests visiting the lot invited to be part of the Home & Family studio audience.

"When we introduced lifestyle programming last year, we looked for and achieved stability, Hallmark exec vp programming Michelle Vicary said. "With our new fall series, Home & Family and Marie! we are looking ambitiously for momentum, growth and opportunities to maximize viewership, and that brings us to the signing of superstar Mark Steines."

Starting Oct. 1, the series will join Hallmark's growing daytime lineup that will feature Marie Osmond's upcoming talk show, which is set to bow in the fourth quarter.

The daytime overhaul comes after Hallmark canceled The Martha Stewart Show, which wrapped original episodes in the spring though it will continue to air in reruns through the summer.
